Don't use re-exports internally, minor tweaks

  • Don't use re-exports internally
  • Add a helper function strip_data to strip time and extract data in one step
  • Tweak DebugConsumer
  • Simplify time adapters by use of strip_data
  • Get rid of setting status to CREATED in component constructor
