global definitions in the configuration file
Writing generic test can lead to a lot of duplication within the configuration files. This could be reduced, if we allow global definition of functions and/or variables within (a separate section of the) configuration file. While this might come in handy, the following questions come to my mind:
- is the burden of the additional user facing complexity worth the effort
- are we moving to far into the direction of a 'proper' language
- what syntax to choose: especially for function definitions the standard Python syntax seems to be a bit to verbose, but moving away from it, might steepen the learning curve
